After a few years sabbatical, i will be growing a couple pumpkins in 2020. I plan to keep things as simple as possible with just the two The seeds have not been finalized . The short list includes the 2005 Haist, 1911 Urena, 2114 Wallace, 1871 Bryson and the 1884 Crews. I started the prep last fall on two 850 ft2 planting sites. Unfortunately I didn't get everything i had planned on completed in the fall. Hopefully, i will be able to get in there early. I will be building much larger clotches than in the past. Likely close to 200ft2 each. I'm planning on in ground as well as above ground heat.

1871 Bryson, 20 DAP. 66” cc. Doing well. Plant is excellent and very heat tolerant. Some downy mildew showed up about 10 days ago. Applied Ridomil Gold.
1911 urena fruit aborted. Pollinated two more yesterday July 6th. Fingers crossed.
Morning pumpkin sex....love it! Two perfect flowers one on each plant, pollinated the same morning with reverse cross, great weather....giddy up!
Top: 1871, doing well. Beat up a bit by last weeks wind, a sudden flush of cucumber beetles & now a nutrient deficiency showing up on the new growth. I believe its manganese deficiency. Out now about 15ft. Second fem at about 13ft, it will open in the next couple days. Bottom: 1911. Still behind the 1871. Not as good a plant, but coming. 1st female at about 10ft. Will likely remove.
1871 Bryson progressing nicely!
The 1911, a little behind. Main at about 4’. The seed was germinated about 5 days after the other plant and is growing hard to catch up. Unfortunately she is not tolerating the heat nearly as well. showing fairly severe UV damage on some leaves. Shaded the growing point today. Applying seaweed and pHortress every 3-4 days.
1871 Bryson, out of the hoop house. Main about 8’ and a baby pumpkin on the tip! not sure I’ve ever had one in May!
this plant is awesome. Tolerating the heat very well.
This is a couple days ago. the warmer weather is appreciated.
