Does anyone have any info how to grow Mangel Wurzel beets i started 6 of them the day after I received my seed pack I have transplanted 2 into 20 gallon barrels and 4 into 5 gallon pails Im flying by the seat of me pants
Thanks Chris, the ones in barrels will remain in them the 5 gallon pails are inverted with bottoms cut out for transplanting to garden just wondering what they need, l mixed garden soil, compost ,some gypsum bone meal , sand and some K mag
Sounds like you are flying well if they are in barrels now. mine are in 6" pots but they are quickly getting too big and I may have to get them into 8" pots soon as they are getting root bound now and they won't be in the garden until at least May. I have never grown them in pails or barrels but they should be OK but they can be big and heavy. I keep eliminating the ones that are not growing as well and only go with the best three or four. There are some pictures of last year's fodder beets during the growing season in my 2019 diary.
