I didn't know the man but I know a lot of you did from the Port Elgin Weigh Offs.http://www.swartzfuneralhomeinc.com/memsol.cgi?user_id=2078453Pat
Very sad. Met him a few times and he was a very nice home spun type of fellow. He will be missed.
We 1st met Marv in the late 90s. He was one the friendliest guys there & really got us into the watermelons. Marv was a fixture at the Port Elgin weigh off every year. We became good friends over the years, as he helped us reach our PB of 222#. We'll miss his laugh, smile & the love he showed for growing melons. Our thoughts & prayers go out to his family during this very difficult time.
RIP my friend.

Sorry to hear this. I spent quite a bit of time emailing him this winter and he was going for a new US sunflower record in 2018. He didn't mention he was terminally ill.
