Patch update All plants are in the ground. The weather hasn't been the greatest but here in Nova Scotia we are getting used to cold wet springs. I have one plant growing in a greenhouse and three plants outside under hoop houses. The greenhouse plant was planted on May 6th and the others were planted May 20th. First pic is the greenhouse plant 842 Rendell (2363 Holland x self) second 2095 Brandt, third 2255 Zaychkowsky and fourth 1875 Mendi .

The Cape Breton Giant Pumpkin Growers (CBGPG) will host their first ever silent auction on BigPumpkins.com . Lots will be posted Sunday evening Feb 3rd. Bidding will close on Monday Feb 18th at 8:00 PM EST. Does anyone know where you can buy a giant pumpkin trophy? We would like to get one that is awarded to the winner of our weigh off every year. The kind you get your name and date inscribed and the winner takes it home for the year until someone beats them.

Hi Chris I noticed your water pump in your diary pic. I just bought the same pump but havent tried it yet. I'm wondering what kind of pressure you are getting from it? I will be pumping from a 1000 L tote and hope to run 4 sprinklers. How many sprinklers are you running at a time? Thanks Jody

My plant is just over 7 feet long now and the secondary vines are very slow. Is there anything i can do to get the secondary vine to grow faster? Im thinking its something im doing as my plants last year took a long time before the secondary vines took off.

When should I start my seeds? I was going to start them tomorrow (15th) but the long range forcast doesn't look to good. Ive got hoop houses and soil heating cables but i dont want to start too early if i risk losing my plants to the weather.

What's everyone's views on drip irrigation? Pros and Cons. I have a roll of tape and the 10lb pressure reducer, filter and fittings to go into the header. All I need is the header pipe. I'm thinking it could save me at least an hour of my limited after work patch time to do other things other than watering.

Im getting ready to order 15lbs of mycorrizal fungi for this season. I contacted both suppliers and the price is comparable. Ive used pumpkin pro the last two years. I have 10lb of pumpkin pro left over from last year. Im thinking about trying Biogrow endo plus and maybe mixing it with the pumpkin pro i have. Whats everyones opinion on the Bio endo is it as good or better than Pumpkin Pro?

Whats everyones thought on why its taking us Canadian longer to reach the 1 ton goal. Im new to the hobby (2nd year) and havent even reached 1000lb yet but im trying my hardest. I bought a used 30'x70' greenhouse this fall. Im excited to get it up this spring. Im hoping it will give me an earlier start here in Nova Scotia.
