It's official. My water deliver guy told me that we are now in the worst drought since we built our place 30 years ago. We have received only 3/8" of rain in the past 6 weeks in this area. Trees are dropping leaves, weeds are dying & both Chris & I have been ordering extra water for the past month, as rain as avoided this area like the plague. The farmers are all talking about heavy crop losses here as their crops are either too far gone or don't have enough moisture or time to see the crop to mature properly. We are now concerned that if we ever get a real heavy rain that it could split our pumpkins. Oh well, can't control mother nature. Pumpkins are currently a bit behind last year's numbers. Hopefully with a good Sept we can try to get some of those pounds back. Plant health is key to max growth on the last few weeks.
I know some areas have received plenty of rain & some are like ourselves that haven't gotten enough rain. Was wondering what your region is like this summer & how is it effecting you?
Good luck all.
Can I ask you something? I want to make a blog like this because this blog is very good and simple Klaim BPJS Ketenagakerjaan
Cool wet spring turned into a dry summer here too. Got rid of the last of my snow on July 8. July and first half of August were very dry. Like Phil said, saved on lawn mower gas. About two weeks ago, we started to get some useful rains. People got good first cut of hay. They say the grain crops are pretty poor due to the dryness. I have a creek going through the property and it always has lots of water so amount is never a problem here. My money has to go to propane. lots of cold nights.
We got 1/8" of rain the other day. That puts our total to 1/2" of rain since early July. Another load of water will be delivered later today. Hopefully all these water purchases are worth the money, time & effort. We'll see when the pumpkins hit the scales come weigh off season.
Good luck everyone.
Still no rain a week later. It's frustrating to see some parts of Ontario getting so much rain, while we suffer from a drought. Our flowers around the house are drying up now & will die off soon & the even the dandelions are drying up & turning brown on the lawn. The only good thing about it is that we saved money not buying gas for the lawnmower.
Weather man says maybe a little on Tuesday, but we need it to rain for the whole day to get any water to soak into the ground. We had water delivered again on Saturday & will get it topped up again on Thursday before the long weekend.
We have had one good days rain and a couple thunder showers but that’s about it crops here aren’t great but I think what rain we got saved the corn crop and beans look ok 1st crop hay was ok but there is no 2nd crop I’ve been hauling water for my gardens from the creek the same as every yearjust more of it, I also wish everyone good luck and all the best and some RAIN
Opposite problem here. Farmers were late getting everything in because of too much rain early on and are now worried the crops will have a hard time finishing. Water levels here have been really high. Flooding all along the rivers and lakes all year. Finally starting to drop a little
