I've been growing pumpkins for years and I've never had this issue before. I've got a plant that is sending up double leaves and flowers. It doesn't look double vined yet and I've had a few of those and simply did some cutting to fix that. Is there any hope or do I go with a back -up plant?

The Keene pumpkin weigh off is looking for field pumpkin seeds for local kids to participate in the local Keene weigh off. If you have some seeds that you don't need, please bring to the seminar tomorrow ( April 21) and I'll see to it that they get in the right hands.

The seminar is coming up soon and again we're looking for donations for door prizes. Growing products, seeds, plants etc. Last year was probably the best we ever had for prizes and most people came home with something. Please just bring in something if you can to the April 21st seminar in Solina. The club will also donate a few items. Thanks Phil J.

I dropped a cheque off this week and booked a date for the GVGO seminar. The seminar will be on the 21st. of April in the Hamlet of Solina at the community hall. Sorry about the later date but there were date conflicts with the hall and product suppliers. This location has been popular with the membership as it's fairly central and within easy access of the 401 and now the 407. As always lunch will be provided.

Hi Guys. I spoke on the phone to Chris about this. They don't actually have a folk lift so I'm thinking about 200-300 pound range.... My name is Chris Hutsul. I’m a parent volunteer for Howard Public school in Toronto’s west end, helping to organize the annual Fall Fete, which is the school’s biggest annual fundraiser. The event is a really big deal in the community, and it helps fund school trips as well as sports and arts programs, etc. This year I’ve been asked to source a giant pumpkin. Our plan is to display the pumpkin in on the school ground in the “festival” area. We will invite parents to donate money to guess the weight. The winner will get a prize. It’s a big ask, I know. We need to have a pumpkin dropped off in the morning, before 10am, then picked up at the end of the day. Obviously this could cost much more than we’ll make in the raffle… So as you can see it’s important to keep costs down. Perhaps there is a local grower who could donate a large pumpkin that could fit on a flatbed truck, in which case, we could handle the pick up. Thank you so much for your time! Here are the details: Howard Public School Fall Fete Saturday October 14th. 10am-2pm. 30 Marmaduke St, Toronto Thanks Phil Joynson

I got this email from a student at the University of Western Ontario, Can anyone help them out? Miguel Gonzalez <migs2727@gmail.com> Tue 09-26, 9:00 PMYou Hello, My name is Miguel Gonzalez and I'm contacting Giant Vegetable Growers of Ontario on behalf of Engineers Without Borders, Western University Chapter. On October 31st, we will be hosting our annual Pumpkin Drop fundraiser, where a large pumpkin is dropped from a crane on campus. The proceeds of this event support our organization on campus, around London, and across the world. We are currently looking for a large pumpkin to drop; the bigger the better, but any size will do. Would anyone in the GVGO community be able to make a donation? We are also looking for a harness to secure the pumpkin as well, if that is possibly available.
