I have 60 new growers in my area that could use some good seeds to start out with. I have a couple growers sending me some seeds to hand out. Just wondering if anyone else would have any to share? Just incase of germination problems and more people interested. thanks.

I have was wondering if it was ok to investigate adding another gpc weigh off in ontario? the reason i ask is I have started a conversation with the Waterford pumpkinfest officials about holding a GPS weighoff at their event. seeing as it is likely the only pumpkinfest without a weigh off that i know of. Maybe it will help grow the hobby in this area., as I have seen a great decline in the area. They are interested and They were asking what would be involved in the gpc. any insight would be greatly appreciated

My 1165 lb (20) pumpkin seeds were all white tiped. The cross was 1938 Urena (f) X 2294 Noel (m) I didnt send any in to be included in the seed packs because i wasnt sure if they would germinate. The ones that I tried out had about a 60% successful germination rate. I sent a few of these seeds to a lady in Australia and she is growing it right now. It is doing very well so far and is out performing the Australian record seed that she also is growing. I was just wondering if anyone would want any of these seeds to try out before they get too old ? If someone does they can email me at jongeneel1@msn.com , message me on facebook or post here. I will mail a few of them out directly if anyone does. I feel bad because I can never contribute to the seed packages. this years pumpkin had 0 seeds . Previous attemps to growing either ended with blossom end splits, rot , and just plain couldnt get one to pollinate. Which has been the issue for a few years prior to 2020. thanks.

I was looking over the genetic crosses from this years weigh-offs and noticed this one was not listed. Anybody know what the seed was that grew this one? What was used to pollinate it? Thanks.

to promote social distancing , why cant a weigh off have multiple weigh in stations across the province? seeing as port elgin is the only weigh off this year. why cant they set up multiple locations to have our pumpkins weighed? prodcast them online?

i usually dont like doing diaries because im superstitious and think they jinks me. but it has been a long time since i even had a pumpkin that pollinated. I cant even remember the last time i actually had one. So what the heck. I keep trying every year. so this year i thought i would go back to the way we use to grow them. i dug out an organic pit (like we did many moons ago) and also put in some heating cables i picked up from amazon. seeing as i always had a pollination problem, i decided not to give my plants any fertilizer other than what went into the pit and surrounding area in April. Had my soil test done in April as well but cant really figure them out too much. i started 2 weeks earlier than i have ever did before because of the heating cables now in place. so anyways i was lucky enough to pollinate in late June and it seams that both my plants finally have a set fruit . was about to give up on them as they looked like they were going to abort. surprisingly they started to grow.
